Are
your carabiners strong enough?
Consider this: A paragliding carabiner of a DHV test pilot breaks
into two pieces during takeoff! One aluminum harness carabiner
broke while starting a paraglider in the Czech Republic! This
carabiner was used over a period of two years during paragliding
flight.
It is a known fact that aluminum
carabiners have a limited life time. USHGA now requires carabiners
on tandem paragliders be steel. But is steel strong enough?
Twice as strong is the new SIL system by Finsterwalden & Charly.
In addition, it is impossible to take off unless your leg straps
are securely attached: |
